The end of it can occasionally be glimpsed when she is wearing a yukata. She was old before her time; aged by an era of perpetual war and just as scarred by it. During the First and Second Great Wars, she cared for a number of those orphaned by an era of what seemed to be endless conflict. Through it all, she was alone. The only hint that she ever had anyone at all save for her gaggle of adopted grandchildren sits on a small shelf in the establishment in which she works. On a shelf, a painting of her late husband sits, labelled 'Tachibana Sakamoto' in a fine script. To those members of the Sarutobi clan, the name may be familiar: it belonged to a warrior who rid himself of his clan name and went into exile during the war. Rumor would have it that he died a scant few weeks after leaving his ancestral home. Today, so many years after the war and after the founding of Konohagakure, the friendly Obaachan has returned to the side of her husband's clan. An end to conflict was what he longed for, after-all. The dreams and ideas that had killed him were finally brilliant and alive, in the form of the Will of Fire.
